At the end of 2012, Brainbheats released a brand new EP entitled Monster Logic, which also had the honor of being the first "new" release by Astral Cat. It's available everywhere digital music is sold online, including:
iTunes
Bandcamp (for high-quality formats)
Amazon
Google Play
as well as streaming services such as Rhapsody and Spotify.
Brainbheats, the producing alias of Brian Healey, cites influences from Aphex Twin, Kraftwerk, J Dilla, the Flaming Lips, a myriad of jazz and classical music, and everything in between. Healey says, "I don't have a particular style, which some might say is a bad thing, but I hate being limited by expectations of the type of music I should be making." He goes on to say, "I mostly compose in the electronic realm these days, but I don't necessarily consider my music 'electronic' in nature. There are organic processes, real instruments, and elements of spontaneity happening. It's not just me sitting in a room with a laptop and headphones. There's a lot of jazz in there. I consider myself a musician first, above all else, and I think it shows." In relation to the tracks on Monster Logic, Healey explains, "The tunes are all pretty different from each other, but I think I'm finally starting to find a voice in how I put sounds together. A particular undercurrent that's unique to me." Regarding the future, Healey states "My plan is to release a series of EPs over the coming months, almost like singles, rather than do an LP. Why? I think it's good for artists to have frequent deadlines. When you have to stay on your toes, that's when the best stuff happens."
