Astral Cat was born with the idea of artists working for both themselves and each other. Our goal is to bring artists together, to collaborate, to understand and appreciate new ideas and approaches, and to support each other. Regardless of medium, be it audio or visual, artists thrive by surrounding themselves with creatively, not in isolation. Gone are the days of paper pushing and brick-and-mortar. In today's online world, one can show their art to the world with the click of a mouse. The question is: is the world listening? Is the world watching? An individual voice can easily be overlooked. The collective voice of an army can't be ignored.

As both a label and a blog, Astral Cat isn't defined by genre or locale, although our primary focus is music overlooked by the mainstream: electronic, jazz, experimental, or any type of sound that would otherwise fall under the category of "left field." Of course, that doesn't mean we only like weird music. We want music that asks a question it doesn't know the answer to. Music that isn't afraid to fail. Music that wasn't created for its own sake. Music that attempts to push beyond the everyday realm of existence. Astral music.
