On Tuesday, Alec Koone (aka Balam Acab) dropped a free EP via Mediafire (link below) called CLUB WATER DISCUS. In a status update on his Facebook page, Alec says about the EP, "a sound I experimented with in 2012 while spending many months alone in an underwater hotel room in Dubai...unofficial, non-indicative of sound of future releases, just thought I'd share..." Who knows if that's true or not (the underwater hotel room part), but nevertheless, it's an apt prologue to this little collection of pieces. The pastoral vibe and drippy textures certainly have a "watery" quality to them. The tunes sound a bit unfinished at times, but clearly that's the point: these are rough drafts. The germs of ideas, not a polished, finished product. Well worth a listen, though, especially if you're a fan.
